Micro Pigs?

My wife read about these online today, and for an early christmas present has been trying to track anyone down who breeds them in France. Despite my protests, I said I'd ask on here as we've only been able to find links to them in the UK so far, and god knows how we'd go about getting a pet passport for a pig! Any help is appreciated. Andy.

Try this site : www.minipigs.dk

Its the largest mini pig breeding centre in Europe although they breed normally for Labs, they may sell to general public too.

Careful as though the pig may only weigh roughly about 8 to 12 kilos when first bought, the adult weight is approx 30 to 40 kilos. the pigs are docile and generally fairly easy to train and you can have it roaming around in the house.

Good muck... erm i mean luck!

Thanks for the link Chocs. I think maybe, well sincerely hope, that the one the wife has in mind are a lot smaller! 30-40 kilos, that's bigger than the dog!

The link she gave me was here: http://littlepigfarm.co.uk/ says they grow to about 16" tall max, and can be litter trained... I am beginning to wonder if this is a hoax by the media or something!

In your position, I'd contact my local Marie and get as much information as I can. The pet passport rules are because of rabies. I haven't heard of rabid pigs (frightening thought). You may find that it's not that difficult to import a pig from England. If it's possible, you could, at least, drive it over, which would be nicer for the pig.

Good luck and remember they are especially good with caramelised apples :-)

Aww no, they are way too cute for that Tigger!

A friend in the UK has one, and says that they are just adorable... Litter trainable, affectionate, and really intelligent. My friends pig apparently wakes her up every morning by jumping on the bed like a cat would!
