We've been away for a month, we return and find Champion is now "Carrefour Market" and opens Sunday morning all year round, Liddles is selling Cheddar cheese, and wonders will never cease, the Brico Depot is now open sans interruption. |

| I was thinking the same thing recently. I believe that supermarkets could only open 4 Sundays per year, and usually held them until Christmas, but it seems that France is increasingly going the way of the UK, and allowing full weekend opening. I have to say that although it is convenient, I am a little disappointed...

| No that's not the case. The supermarket by the Loire near la Riche as you come into Tours opens Sundays and has for the last 11 years as far as I know. It is the size of the supermarket, under a certain number of square metres they can open, and over a certain number they can't. So the very big ones can't, but an Atac/carrefour market super u size one can.

| While Enna is correct, Champion (Carrefour Market) was never open Sunday morning all year round. Also what else is changing is the restriction on size of local supermarkets this has been reviewed, in Montoire; Intermarché has increased in size by about one third, Lidl has closed down until January to be rebuilt and increased in size. Apparently the powers to be are afraid that small town centres are being ignored by shoppers who are driving to the big hypermarkets. All stores in certain "tourist" areas are now allowed to open on Sundays. So times they are a changing. |

| Can't help but feel that this erodes France a little bit. I used to love the deserted roads on a Sunday, and the trek to the bakers or bread. Really hope things don't get out of hand... heck I am here to escape from 24/7/365! |
