A friend of ours is going back to the uk for a holiday with her dog, the dog as a pet passport and is chiped, but she as been told she needs to see a vet with her dog before she can leave here, does anyone know what she as to do as she is not sure this information is correct any info would be a help.
thanks |

| She HAS to see her vet. Her vet will tell her what to do. In a nutshell, the dog needs a blood test, with a positive result, 6 months prior to entering the U.K. YES, 6 months. Subsequently and between 24 and 48 hours, prior to entering the U.K. the dog needs to be checked by a vet.
Do not try to play with this one. The alternative is that the dog will be quarantined upon entry to the U.K. British customs are not known for their leniency. |

I agree with Tiggers response, but i would like to add two more points:
It is important that the dogs 'carnet de vaccination' is up to date and you will need to ask for a passport (free) from your vet. |

| Hi
You can look up information ref this subject on the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs website:
search under "Pet Travel Scheme". Your French vet should also be aware of procedures and be able to give you up to date advice.
One comment said that Passports for pets are free, in my experience they are not - one cost 10 euros and the other 15 euros.
